Giant Tilques Carrot Seeds - Non-Hybrid

The giant Tilques carrot is an ancient and traditional variety from the Hauts-de-France, specifically from Northern France. It is a late and very hardy carrot offering large cylindrical roots measuring 20 to 30 cm in length. With very good yield and good storage qualities, its flesh is orange-red in color and is very tasty and fragrant. It is not very susceptible to carrot fly. This local variety originated in the Tilques region, west of the Saint Omer marsh (62). It developed there in the late 19th century and is known as the "Tilques carrot". A work of homogenization and selection coordinated by the regional center for genetic resources and carried out by the national horticultural institute and the northern vegetable pole has allowed it to be re-listed in the European seed catalog.
